Invest excess liquidity to benefit your CU and foundations
The loan drought and flood of new savings dollars -- $1.47 billion in Ohio for the year ending March 2010 -- has left some credit unions with a quandary: what should we do with the excess liquidity? Consider making a deposit in the Community Investment Fund, to benefit the Ohio Credit Union Foundation and the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF). The CIF is a social investment, with dividends split between the credit union (50%), NCUF (25%), and OCUF (25%).

CMG’s “secret weapon” for marketing insurance
Like many credit unions, you’ve probably decided that it makes sense to make insurance available to your members. MemberCONNECT from CUNA Mutual Group (CMG) has developed a proprietary segmentation strategy that divides members into 13 core segments. Members receive only the insurance offers that match their needs and purchasing patterns. MemberCONNECT also creates a member-focused marketing schedule.

eLUMINATION SPECIAL FEATURES
Get Thinking:
Millions left on the table means opportunity for CUs
Who are the “underserved” and are they viable? In fact, credit unions are ideally positioned to serve underbanked consumers, and in turn will enjoy strategic growth. The findings of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s National Survey of Unbanked and Underbanked Households contain the proof why.
