Ohio
Credit Union League Publishes Business Services Checking Guide for
Credit Unions
Dublin,
Ohio (Sept. 6, 2002) – A Credit Union Business Checking Account
Guide published by the Ohio Credit Union League and its business
affiliate will give credit unions the tools they need to serve
small businesses – a demographic historically overlooked by credit
unions. The Guide is believed to be the first of its kind
produced in the credit union industry.
“Now is the
time for credit unions to tap into the world of business services
opportunities,” said Rose Bartolomucci, chair of Ohio’s Member
Business Services Task Force and CEO of Kent Credit Union. “We’ve
studied this for more than a year, and know that the business
checking account is the core service to attract and retain
business relationships.” Bartolomucci said that as credit unions
continue to expand their fields of membership to more employer,
associational, and community groups, the need for business
services is more widely requested.
Dave Shoup,
the Ohio League’s director of research and information, authored
the new Credit Union Business Checking Account Guide. “We hope
this information will ease credit unions’ initial compliance
concerns and create the confidence needed to begin to serve small
businesses,” said Shoup. “Our goal is to give credit unions the
tools they need to identify what processes are necessary to
implement, operate, and expand business accounts.”
Released to
credit unions in August, the Guide provides operating forms and
instructions, policy and pricing guidelines, research findings,
and other resources to assist Ohio credit union executives in
deciding whether business services are right for their credit
unions.
