Ohio Credit Union League will
host Bulgarian credit union officials at 2002 Convention
Dublin, Ohio (December 18, 2001) - The
Ohio Credit Union League will host a group of five Bulgarian
credit union officials April 24 through May 1 as part of the
League’s continuing partnership with the World Council of Credit
Unions.
The Bulgarian group – which will include the chairman of the
country’s national association -- will attend the OCUS Convention
in Columbus and visit credit unions in Columbus and Toledo.
Members of the Ohio League’s Youth Development Committee will
serve as guides for the visitors.
The visit “will add momentum and energy to the continuing
partnership” and allow the Bulgarian credit union officials to
gain operational knowledge from Ohio credit unions, according to
League COO John Florian, who traveled to Bulgaria two years ago to
help WOCCU develop the Eastern European country’s developing
“mutual kasa” movement.
Two Ohio credit CEOs and two members of the Ohio Credit UNion
League staff have traveled to Bulgaria to assist the World Council
of Credit Unions strengthen the nation's growing credit union --
or "mutual kasa" -- movement.
