Ohio League hosts 76 in NEFE training

Volunteer participants will take financial ed into classrooms

The Ohio CU League on April 26 became the first league in the nation to offer a session that trains CU personnel how to teach high school students about financial management.

In cooperation with CUNA and the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), the League's CU Development Dept. hosted 76 people in a session that prepared credit union staffers and others to incorporate financial education into their local school districts' curriculum. Representatives from other CU leagues also attended.

The volunteer participants will now work with their local school districts to incorporate their classroom presentations into math classes, home economics classes, and other courses during the 2000-2001 school year. The presentations will be tracked and analyzed in quarterly networking sessions throughout Ohio and reported to the Credit Union Network's National Youth Involvement Board.
