Columbus, Ohio
(March 31, 2011) Many people dream of saving enough money
to spend their retirement years chauffeured around in a flashy
car. On April 5, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Central
Ohioans will be able to take free limousine rides from the
Renaissance Columbus Hotel (50 North 3rd Street) to
the Arena District, and back, as part of the credit union $tretch
Your Buck Limo and game show. Riders will be tested on their
personal finance knowledge, with the opportunity to answer
questions on budgeting, saving, credit cards, and loans.
“Credit unions
believe strongly in the importance of bringing basic financial
concepts like saving, budgeting, and differing wants from needs
to the forefront,” said Patrick Harris, spokesperson for the
Ohio Credit Union League. “$tretch Your Buck Limo is a way for
us to bring financial education to the streets of Columbus - -
literally. We hope folks working downtown take advantage of the
free, flashy ride, while taking away useful financial concepts.”
Here is how the
$tretch Your Buck limo will work. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., two
stretch limousines will pick up passengers at the Renaissance
Columbus Hotel and transport them for free to the Arena District
for lunch. While aboard, riders will play as a team, answering
three personal finance questions, a stop-light challenge
question, and a question about credit unions. Riders who answer
all questions correctly will receive a free “Edison only wishes”
t-shirt, while all participants will receive beneficial
financial knowledge.
Riders can then
catch a ride on the $tretch Your Buck Limo from the corner of
Nationwide and Front Streets back to the Columbus Renaissance.
Riders at both pick-up and drop-off sites should look for the
“$tretch Your Buck Limo Stop” signs. Limousines will be making
round trips between the stops until 2:00 p.m.
“We hope people
think differently about credit unions after their experience
playing $tretch Your Buck,” said Amanda Thomas, President of the
Central Ohio Chapter of Credit Unions. “There are many
misnomers about credit unions, but the truth is nearly everyone
can join a credit union, they are conveniently located, and they
offer many of the same products and services consumers rely on.

$tretch Your
Buck Limo is a combined effort of the Ohio Credit Union League
and the Central Ohio Chapter of the Ohio Credit Union League.
The Ohio Credit Union League’s annual convention and expo,
InVest48, will be taking place at the Renaissance Columbus Hotel
and The Columbus Athenaeum during the $tretch Your Buck Limo
event.
