What is Project Differentiaition?
In 1998, CUNA's Board appointed a Project Differentiation Committee to reemphasize credit unions' philosophy and their commitment to members. The result? A "Statement of Commitment to Members" encouraging all credit unions to develop their own statements.

What is a Statement of Commitment?
Think of the Statement of Commitment as a "Philosophy Policy"-- similar in nature to a credit union's asset/liability management (ALM) policy, but focusing instead on the philosophical aspects of your credit union's operations. It is a tangible way to show credit unions practice what we preach. It is also an excellent marketing tool for each credit union to use within its membership and its community.

'Project Diff' paying off on Capitol Hill
Adding Project Differentiation to CUNA's Hike-the-Hill program is paying off. "We've seen how the statements reinforce the credit union difference in the minds of legislators," said Carl Parks, CUNA's Senior VP-Governmental Affairs.
