The Ohio Credit Union League Services Corporation offers several ways your credit union can manage its risk:

Delinquency Management

Executive Summary

The Loan Service Center (LSC) provides professional part-time, full-time, or temporary collection staff to assist you with delinquency management. LSC establishes a secure data line connection to your credit union’s data processing system and then records all collection activity “live” -- providing “up to the minute” detail on delinquent accounts. Unlike a collection agency, LSC collectors work under the direct supervision of the credit union and follow the collection procedures and timelines that you specify.  You remain in complete control of all accounts and the decisions that need to be made to resolve non-performing loans.

Product Features

·          An expert delinquency management system for your credit union with minimum overhead.

·          Your credit union remains in control of contact procedures and collection decisions.

·          You decide the extent of your relationship with NLSC -- from consumer loans to credit cards and negative share accounts.

·          Person-to-person contact between NLSC personnel and your borrowers ensure that the lines of communication are open.

·          Focus is solely on resolving delinquency issues.

·          Staffing plans are designed to meet your credit union’s short or long-term needs.

·          NLSC costs are based upon your delinquent account volume and your credit union’s contact plan.

Detail

Managing delinquent accounts requires person-to-person contact -- from payment reminders to arranging repayment programs.  It can be challenging to staff a collections department -- especially in an economy based on the maxim of doing more with less.  Finding and training the right applicant with the skill set you need, and then retaining that individual, can be difficult.  Turnover lessens the effectiveness of any collections department.  And more often than not, collection personnel may need to help out in other parts of your member service areas, which take them away from their recovery duties.
