What to do when a reporter calls

When a reporter contacts you for information or comments on events that affect your credit union you have the right to ask a few questions.

·  Ask the reporter’s name, medium, and telephone number.

·  Ask what the reporter wants to know.

·  Ask the reporter whom he/she has already talked with, or plans to talk with for information on the topic.

·  Ask the reporter for an idea of what information he/she already has and for the overall thrust, slant, point-of-view the reporter plans to take.

·  Ask the reporter’s deadline.
