Controller (Cincinnati)

The Controller is responsible for all accounting and financial reporting for the credit union. The Controller ensures that all accounting department work is performed to Cintel’s high quality standards and is in accordance with all GAAP, NCUA rules and regulations.

Essential Functions include:

Accounting

  • Responsible for the daily accounting functions.

  • Maintain Balance sheet accounts with monthly reviews and quarterly account analysis.

  • Maintains sub ledgers as appropriate for pre-paid expenses, fixed assets and investments.

  • Responsible for reconciliation of bank accounts and departmental GLs.

  • Establishes and documents accounting procedures and policies for company.

  • Ensures that staff and Controller understand latest changes in GAAP and regulatory requirements.

  • Supervises accounts payable functions to adhere with credit union approval policies.

  • Assists the CFO in preparation of reports required by regulatory agencies.

  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of other new products and services.

  • Create and interpret statistical and operational reports as required, including standing monthly reports.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements.

  • Support Compliance Officer in identifying and resolving any compliance or regulatory concerns.

  • Work with department managers and corporate staff to develop detailed business plans, operational assessments and project reviews for Cintel.

  • Recruit, train, supervise and, evaluate department staff.

  • Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of this position at any time.

Control

  • Improves internal processes to increase efficiencies.

  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.

  • Proactively communicate and address budgetary issues.

  • Supervises ACH and wire activity and procedures to reduce risk while achieving high member or internal customer satisfaction results.

  • Analyzes controls for appropriate segregation of duties

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: B.S. in Accounting / CPA preferred

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years as a controller or senior accountant in a credit union.

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles

  • Knowledge of financial and accounting reporting systems

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections

  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting

  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Minimum of 5 years Talent Management, Training, experience required. 

  • Minimum of two years management experience leading project teams or staff. 

  • Advanced knowledge of principles, theories and practices in one or more of the following areas: talent management, change management, leadership development, adult learning, and presenting and public speaking.
