Celebrate International Credit Union Month

and the credit union philosophy …

Participate in the fourth annual statewide food collection

For the fourth year, the Ohio Credit Union League is spearheading a statewide food drive during October and we encourage you to participate.

Non-perishable food is a year-round need for thousands of Ohioans. Food drives benefit the working poor, the temporarily unemployed, seniors, veterans, single parent families, hungry kids, and the homeless.

The Mid-Ohio FoodBank reports that EACH YEAR 193,000 different people receive emergency food assistance through its network of pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.

The food collected by your credit unions should remain in your communities to benefit those in need locally. The League asks each credit union choose the organization(s) that will benefit from your generous donations. Choose one or choose several.

If you have a box, you can participate. It is that easy! Participating in the October Credit Union Food Drive requires only that each credit union gather non-perishable food items and coordinate delivery to your chosen organization.

The League will provide participating affiliated credit unions with:

Customizable Lobby Poster, Teller Window Poster, Newsletter article, and Press release about the Ohio Credit Union Food Drive to inform your members and the media about the project.
The posters and newsletter article are available for downloading and customize.
Katie Walton of the League can help your credit union customize the posters
Press coverage for participating credit unions. The League will inform media outlets across the state about the food drive
Assistance with identifying charitable organizations in need of the non-perishable food items.

Work with your chapter to organize your participation in the Ohio Credit Union Food Drive in October to feed Ohio’s hungry.

Contact Katie Walton, League Director of Member Communications, at (614) 336-2894 or kwalton@ohiocul.org with any questions.
